Sayajirao Gaekwad III:
Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III was the maharaja of the Baroda state from 1875 to 1939. He is known as maker of modern Baroda. During his reign he started water supply scheme for Vadodara people, to this day large portion of drinking water is supplied by this. He expanded the Gaekwads Baroda state rail network, which is the largest narrow gauge railway network in the world till now. In 1881 He opened eight schools for girls and a training college for women teachers. In 1906 he started free and compulsory primary education. In respect of him Baroda university has named after him.
Fatehsinghrao prataprao gaekwad is the last ruler of Baroda till 1971.He was served as a politician and also a cricketer. He represented Baroda in cricket from 1946 to 1958. He also served as President of BCCI from 1963 to 1966. He holds the record of being BCCI’s youngest president. He also served as Member of Parliament and MLA in Gujarat state served as minister of Health, Fisheries and Jails. He also served as Chancellor of Sayajirao University.
Manilal mangalal doctor was a barrister and politician. He is renowned for his services in number of countries to provide legal assistance to local ethnic Indians living in those countries. He Manilal started a weekly newspaper, “The Hindustani”. By this newspaper he highlighted the importance of the heritage and common interests of Indians, nevertheless of religion or status as merchant or labor. It was first published in English and Gujarati, but the Gujarati was replaced with Hindi soon to attract the masses.
Shri B.D.Amin was the founder of the company Alembic Chemical Works Company Limited now called started in 1907 with the support of maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III. He is the person continuously promoted the scientific and chemical research and Pharmaceutical industry in the country.
Mr. Chirayu Amin is the chairman Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd and one of the billionaires in the country. He is the former IPL chairman and vice president of BCCI.
Kiran Shankar more was renowned Indian cricketer and wicket keeper from 1984 to 1993. He also served as selection committee chairman for BCCI from 2002 to 2006. He started Kiran More-Alembic cricket academy in Vadodara.
Nayan Rampal Mongia is former Indian cricketer and wicket keeper. He started his career in 1990s. He was the most competent wicket keepers for India during 1990s. He was accused of match fixing allegations and dropped from the team. He worked as Thailand cricket coach and currently working as cricket analyst.
Yousuf pathan is the brother of Indian cricketer Irfan pathan and considered as the one of the most aggressive batsmen in the world. He started his career in 2001 in First class cricket. After his impressive performance in Deodhar Trophy, he made into Indian squad for T20 world cup 2007.
He made his IPL debut in 2008 with Rajasthan royals. From 2011 to 2017 he associated with Kolkata knight riders.
Irfan pathan is well known Indian cricket bowler, he made his debut in 2003 in Border Gavaskar trophy. He is the first person to claim a Hat-Trick in the first over of a test match. In IPL he associated with Kings XI Punjab, Chenai super kings and Delhi dare devils.
The Pathans cricket academy was started by Pathan brothers. This has tied up with Gregg Chappell and Cameron Tradell as chief mentors.
